Artist's Description
This is one of two views of this event that I have posted. This amazing photo was that of the full moon-rise over downtown Sarasota, FL on 1/12/2017. The images are a combination of two photos taken the same evening, one of the skyline, and one of the moon. The skyline was taken at ISO 100, 70 mm, f14, at 15.0 sec exposure, and the moon was taken at ISO 100, 420 mm, f14, at 1/5 sec exposure. Using the LightTrac iPhone app I determined that moon-rise would be at 6:30 PM and would be visible at 70.7 degrees from North, placing it just to the right of the golden dome of the Grande Riviera on Golden Gate Point, a perfect spot. Allowing for 1-2 degrees of building elevation, the moon would be visible above the buildings at 6:35 - 6:40 PM. I combined the images using Photoshop layers.
